The two most popular choices for military car insurance, compared on every metric that matters: rates, discounts, deployment support, customer satisfaction, and digital experience.
USAA wins on rates and claims satisfaction. If you or a family member are eligible for USAA membership, start there. USAA averages $443/year less than Geico for the same full-coverage policy, has a 67% claims satisfaction rate (vs. Geico's 55%), and offers the fastest deployment reinstatement in the industry. Geico wins on availability and bundling discounts. If you do not qualify for USAA, Geico is the strongest national alternative with competitive military discounts, a strong digital experience, and the best bundling discount (up to 20%). Federal employees can stack both the military and federal employee discounts at Geico.

For military members, USAA SafePilot is generally the better telematics choice. The guaranteed no-rate-increase policy removes risk, and the program does not penalize the irregular driving patterns common in military life. Geico DriveEasy offers solid savings but the time-of-day tracking can work against members who drive at odd hours for duty shifts or formations.
If you are not a military member or family member, Geico is the best military-adjacent option. Federal employees get an additional 8% discount.
Geico offers up to 20% for bundling auto + home/renters. If you are bundling multiple policies, Geico may come out cheaper overall despite higher base rates.
Geico is more forgiving of driving record issues (accidents, tickets). USAA rates increase more steeply for at-fault accidents.
In some states, particularly for older vehicles with liability-only coverage, Geico can be competitive with or cheaper than USAA.
Armed Forces Insurance is the third military-specific insurer and worth quoting alongside USAA and Geico. AFI averages $1,490/year for full coverage and offers up to 20% in combined military discounts, the highest base military discount of any insurer.
AFI excels in deployment support (24-hour reinstatement, expedited deployment processing) and customer service. Their NAIC complaint ratio is 0.38, even lower than USAA. The trade-off: fewer digital tools and a smaller network than USAA or Geico.
Best for: Military members who prioritize personal service and deployment support over digital convenience. Particularly popular among officers and senior NCOs who value the dedicated relationship model.
